DESCRIPTION OF THE EXECUTION

A Tecnocoat P-2049 pure polyurea system was installed on the entire concrete surface of the concrete grandstand areas of the stadiums (football, athletics, etc.) to create a waterproofing system. The system has the European Technical Assessment (ETE 11/0357) and BBA 16/5340 according to the European guideline ETAG 005 for the waterproofing of roofs. The lower areas (changing rooms, commercial areas, storerooms, etc.) are protected from rainwater infiltration and, at the same time, the concrete structures are protected.

ADVANTAGES OF THE PRESCRIBED/APPLIED SYSTEM

The conditioning factors and favourable points that decided the execution of this pure polyurea continuous membrane liquid waterproofing system Tecnocoat P-2049, in this exposed pedestrian traffic system were the following:

  • High resistance to puncturing and abrasion, which ensures watertightness in cases such as the one in question: a large surface area will be used as a walkable area with direct contact, without the need for an extra wearing course.
  • As it is a continuous application without joints or overlaps, it offers optimum waterproofing over the entire surface and at junctions with existing elements such as perimeter walls, drainage areas, etc.
  • Very fast execution compared to other systems, which, due to the amount and frequency of rainfall in the area, makes the Tecnocoat P-2049 system ideal for avoiding delays in the execution of the work.
  • Complete continuity of the waterproofing in all aspects of the morphology of the execution, taking into account the existing construction details such as the joints with the existing vertical faces.
  • In the same way, its classification for application on roof slopes with classification S1-S4, i.e. on roofs with zero slope as reflected in ETE 11/0357 and BBA 16/5340, make it suitable for use.
