DESCRIPTION OF THE EXECUTION


It has been applied approximately 1,700 m2 have been waterproofed with our Tecnocoat P-2049 system based on 100% pure polyurea continuous membrane application without joints or overlaps on the entire surface. The application was made on existing ceramic support

The waterproofing system has obtained the European Technical Evaluation (ETA 11/0357), and BBA 16/5340 for waterproofing of roofs according to the European guide ETAG 005.

This is the scheme of the system used in this use:

 

  • 1 existing ceramic tiles
  • 2PRIMER EPw-1070, epoxy resin as a primer
  • 3TECNOCOAT P-2049, waterproofing membrane based on 100% pure polyurea
  • 4TECNOTOP 2CP, protection layer for solar action(UV rays) and contact with cleaning chlorine, topcoat based on colored aliphatic PU resin

 

System methodology

The methodology to develop this waterproofing system in permanent contact with chlorinated water, was as follows:

0 | Support conditions: These are the physical parameters of the support to be able to do the application

  • Existing humidity of the support <8% (check the choice of primer)
  • Ambient temperature> 3ºC
  • No presence of dust, dirt or silicones on the surface in any phase of application of products
  • No leaks in any case due to the excess of the existing support (phreatic water pressure or internal condensation)
  • No contaminants, such as oils, greases, silicones additives used in the pouring of concrete or in coatings subsequent to it.

1 | Previous preparation of the support: The following preventive actions were taken to prepare the existing support:

  • Open the pore of the existing ceramic tiles surface
  • Opening and filling of cracks using MASTIC PU polyurethane sealant
  • In the case of encounters with vertical elements, encapsulation of the end of the system
  • General final cleaning: removal of dust, dirt or other contaminants present on the surface using dry suction methods.

2 | priming: Supply and spread primer based on a PRIMER EPw-1070 two-component epoxy resin, to seal, with a certain moisture absorption capacity of the support, it  increases the adherence of the system, and regularizes the existing surface to avoid the appearance of pathologies in the membrane; approximate total consumption 0,200 kg / m², applied by a short hair roller in crossed layers until the surface is fully filled.

3 | pure polyurea liquid membrane: Supply and application of TECNOCOAT P-2049 two-component membrane for waterproofing based on 100% pure polyurea, with European Technical Evaluation (ETA) No. 11/0357 for roof waterproofing, European regulations for the protection of structural concretes EN 1504-2 in compliance with paragraphs 1.3 (protection) and 2.2 (humidity control), BBA certificate 16/5340 of the market of Great Britain and zones of influence, useful life of 25 years (W3), minimum thickness of 1.4 mm, minimum yield of 1.5 kg / m², loads for use for P4: TH2 and P3: TH4, applicable in roofs with zero slope(ponding water), resistance to diffusion of water vapor (μ = 2.279), anti-root certificate according to EN 13948; continuous and fully adhered to the support. Homologation to be in contact with water for human consumption according to the British standard BS6920. Reaction to fire Euroclass E, external fire propagation Broof (t1) + (t2) + (t3) + (t4).

4 | aliphatic resin: Supply and application of TECNOTOP 2CP aliphatic polyurethane resin colored in RAL chart 5012; approximate consumption of  0.250 kg / m² applied by a short hair roller or mechanical equipment in several crossed layers.

 

Advantages of the prescribed/applied system

The conditions and favorable points that decided the execution of our continuous polyurethane membrane continuous waterproofing system Tecnocoat P-2049, in this waterproofing of swimming pools and recreational areas, were the following:

  • optimal waterproofing both in meetings with contour perimeter walls, as in the rest of the surface to be treated.
  • great speed of execution compared to other systems, this behavior makes the Tecnocoat P-2049 system ideal to avoid delays in the execution of work.
  • complete continuity of the waterproofing in all aspects of the morphology of the execution, taking into account the existing constructive details such as the encounters with the existing vertical walls.
  • great resistance to puncture and abrasion, which ensures its tightness in cases like the one we are dealing with: a large area that can be used as storage areas for materials during execution.
  • our system can be applied in zero slope conditions, ponding water accepted, classification S1-S4 issued on the ETA 11/0357 and in the BBA 16/5340, make it suitable for use.
